Ram Homestay, Joginder Nagar
Joginder Nagar is the last point of Kangra and the starting point of Mandi. It is located in the Mandi district.
Joginder Nagar-Pathankot Railway Line:-
The Joginder Nagar-Pathankot railway line is a very old railway line & must visit top places near bir that is still operational today. It is a narrow-gauge line where toy trains run, allowing you to take a memorable journey from Joginder Nagar to Pathankot.
During this journey, you will see many rivers, snow-capped mountains, tea gardens, Himachali culture, old forts, modern markets, grassy meadows, forests surrounded by hills, various wildlife, and more. This trip promises wonderful and thrilling experiences.
Winch Camp

Bir Billing
Bir Billing is referred to as the City of Human Birds in India. Bir is a rural town near Joginder Nagar, renowned for paragliding and adventure activities, making it a top choice for Indian and foreign tourists.f you want to experience paragliding in your life, there is no better place in India. It is the second-highest site in the world for paragliding activities. Various paragliding and adventure competitions are held here, mainly in October, November, and April to June.in addition, the town of Bir is a hub for many outdoor activities. Landing Site Bir:-
As the name suggests, this is a landing ground for paragliders. It is a large area where various significant events are organized.
You can sit here and watch paragliders land while enjoying views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains, making it a beautiful spot for social media photography.
Chokling Monastery Bir:-
This is one of the main attractions here, located in a Tibetan colony. The monastery is famous for its architecture, and you can see amazing examples of Tibetan culture and architecture. Tea Gardens:

Ajhu Mata Ghar Temple:-
A half-hour trek leads you to this historical and mythological temple, where you can also see remnants of old forts.
From here, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the entire Bir Valley, also known as the City of Human Birds. This place is great for photography, especially if you feel bored in Bir during the evening.
Nyingyang Monastery
This is a peaceful monastery located near the landing site where you can see prayers being performed. It features beautiful Buddhist paintings and a large statue of Lord Buddha. You will often find Tibetan people engaged in their rituals and prayers here.
Sherab Ling Monastery:-
This is the most famous monastery in Bir, truly representing Tibetan culture. Most people will recommend visiting this monastery. You will see Tibetan prayers, meditation, festivals, and gatherings.
Bir Market:-
Exploring this market is an amazing experience. You will find shops run by Tibetans, locals, people from various regions of India, and foreigners. Here, you can shop for Himachali and Tibetan clothes, meditation items, adventure activities, tours and travels, bike rentals, cafes and restaurants, hotels, banks, and even Volvo bus services. I recommend visiting this market in the morning and evening; itwill surely leave a lasting impression on your memories.
Deer Park Institute:-
This is an institute for Tibetan culture where studies on religion, culture, and history are conducted. Additionally, yoga, meditation, and mental health classes are offered here. Visiting this institute will definitely create a special place in your memories. It is also an excellent spot for photographers and videographers due to its serene environment.
Machyal Lake:
This is a small lake where fish are worshipped. It has also been the shooting location for several old Bollywood movies. Women come here to seek blessings for fertility and offer fish as a tribute. Fishing is strictly prohibited here.
Herbal Garden & Museum:-
This herbal garden is famous for its indigenous medicines. You will find rare herbal and Ayurvedic plants here. There is also a government clinic that provides free herbal medicines. You can learn a lot about various herbs from this museum.
Shanan Power House:-
The Shanan Power House was built by the British and is still operational today. You can witness electricity generation here. It has been beautifully designed, and several British colonies around it have been well-preserved. This is an important heritage site, and if you visit Joginder Nagar, you should definitely acquaint yourself with this heritage site as there are many other beautiful places nearby.
Chaparot:-
This is a splendid location featuring a large pond for water storage that collects water for the Bassi Power House. It is a popular picnic spot where you can enjoy peaceful views of the Joginder Nagar valley below. If you love picnics and want to party with friends, I highly recommend this place.
Jhatigari:-
This area is known for its pine trees, which offer a cinematic view while you travel. Small paragliding activities and adventure camping are also organized here.
Baijnath Temple:-
Known as the temple of Lord Shiva, Baijnath Temple is nearly 1000 years old. The architecture of this temple is truly captivating. It is one of the major tourist spots in Himachal, attracting devotees year-round. The Baijnath River flows here, where people come to bathe, and there are rituals for the immersion of ashes. If you are religious, I recommend visiting this place.
Mata Chaturbhuja Temple:-
Located in Basai Dahr village below Joginder Nagar, this temple is famous for its 360-degree panoramic views. From here, you can enjoy the view of Joginder Nagar and the snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains, as well as the confluence of a large river.
Bhandari Mata:-
Located near Joginder Nagar, this site has remnants of an old fort, which was known as Karanpur in ancient times and constructed by the British. This is a short trekking route where you can enjoy the natural beauty and views of Joginder Nagar below. Here, you can witness a 360-degree view of the city, making it a great spot for peace and picnics, as it is close to the town.
Sainthal:-
This location is between Joginder Nagar and Bir, where you can find small natural streams and rivers for bathing. Fish worship also takes place here. If you want to bathe in a beautiful natural setting, you cannot find a better place.
Barot:-
Barot is a very beautiful place that gives awesome experience. It is famous for its old customs and culture. Being a backward area, it has seen little development, but it is known for its trout fish. Additionally, there is a hydro power project here. In winter, it experiences snowfall. If you enjoy mountain biking, trekking, and camping while connecting with traditional culture, this place is for you. Many old villages still follow ancient customs, and their lifestyle resembles that of earlier times. This place is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, taking you back to old memories. The roads alongside the Uhl River make your journey memorable.
Barot Valley Area:-
This area is very suitable for trekking and camping. It is also known for outdoor adventure activities. You will find opportunities for adventure biking here as well. You will encounter the old culture and the people associated with it. It will be a fantastic experience if you join them in their festivals, weddings, and other events. If you wish to visit, I highly recommend experiencing this.
Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary:-
Located beside the Uhl River, you can see various animals and birds here. If you love wildlife, this place is for you. It is a natural park situated at a higher altitude.
Prasher Lake:-
This is one of the natural lakes with fish. It is named after Sage Prasher. A unique feature of this lake is its floating island that moves around the lake. It is also known for its panoramic views, where you can see the Dhauladhar mountains forested hills, and open meadows. I recommend visiting this spot; it offers both trekking opportunities and a chance to experience the Himachali culture and adventure trekking.
Dev Pashakot Temple:-
This ancient temple is located in Barot and is one of the historic temples in Himachal. Local residents and people from surrounding areas come here to fulfill their wishes. If you enjoy religious tourism and appreciate ancient places, this temple, set within the beauty of the Chuhar Valley, will surely captivate you.
Gunehar Waterfall:-
As the name suggests, this is a waterfall that stands approximately 100 to 120 meters tall. If you want to see a waterfall nearby and take a little tour of the area, you can visit here while enjoying some tea or coffee. This spot also offers a glimpse into the old culture. While reaching the waterfall can be a bit challenging, it is not overly difficult. During the summer, it is the best place to take a refreshing dip under the cascading water.
Adventure Biking:-
If you enjoy adventure but prefer not to walk too much, I recommend adventure biking. This route starts from Bir Billing and goes through Raj Gundha, Barot, Ghatasni, Joginder Nagar, and ends back at Bir. It is an excellent route that provides a wealth of experiences. Along the way, you will encounter high hills, snow-capped mountains, ancient villages, rivers, waterfalls, forests, grassy meadows, and much more.
